Taking the assessment
About 10 minutes. It is 50 questions covering your mental performance across the four pillars.
Taking it is free. You get your scores across all four pillars at no cost.
The full report, which explains what those scores mean and what to do about them, is the part that is paid.
Discipline measures consistency when motivation fades. Ownership measures accountability for outcomes. Toughness measures resilience under pressure. Sports IQ measures decision-making speed and situational awareness.
About DOTIQ
DOTIQ is an athlete development ecosystem built around four foundational areas: Discipline, Ownership, Toughness, and Sports IQ.
DOTIQ helps athletes better understand themselves, identify areas for growth, develop through intentional programming and Mentor content, and measure their progress over time.
Our goal is to help develop the complete athlete, beyond physical ability alone.
The Complete Athlete System, or CAS, is DOTIQ's foundational athlete-development experience.
The CAS has a retail value of $399.99 and brings together the athlete's assessment, report, development programs, and access to the DOTIQ Grid.
It establishes the foundation for the athlete's ongoing DOTIQ journey.
The CAS brings together DOTIQ's foundational athlete-development tools into one complete package.
If purchased individually, the components of the CAS are available at their regular à la carte retail prices:
DOTIQ Assessment + Report: $50 à la carte
Four 8-Week Development Programs: $75 each / $300 à la carte
DOTIQ Grid Membership: $25/month à la carte
Rather than purchasing each component individually, the Complete Athlete System bundles these resources together at a discounted package price of $399.99.
The CAS is designed to give athletes everything they need to establish their DOTIQ baseline, understand their results, begin intentional development, and continue growing through the DOTIQ Grid.
The DOTIQ Grid is the ongoing development environment inside DOTIQ.
Athletes gain access to content, education, challenges, resources, Mentors, and development opportunities designed to help them continue growing beyond their initial assessment and programs.
The Grid is where DOTIQ becomes an ongoing development ecosystem rather than a one-time assessment.
The DOTIQ Grid is designed to address the many areas that contribute to developing the complete athlete.
Content will continue to expand as the Grid grows and may include topics such as mindset, leadership, nutrition, strength and conditioning, recovery, physical health, sports psychology, recruiting, dealing with and overcoming adversity, confidence, preparation, academic support, financial literacy, faith in sports, identity and purpose during and beyond sports, life skills, personal development, building your social media profile and personal brand, and content centered around DOTIQ's four foundational pillars of Discipline, Ownership, Toughness, and Sports IQ.
The Grid will not provide sport-specific skill instruction. DOTIQ believes an athlete's school, club, team coaches, and trusted private instructors are best positioned to develop the technical skills specific to their sport.
Instead, DOTIQ focuses on developing the areas that translate across sports and can help athletes become better competitors, teammates, leaders, and people.
Content comes from a diverse group of experienced Division 1 and professional coaches, current and former Division 1 and professional athletes, business professionals, category experts, educators, world-class speakers, and other influential voices who can help athletes grow both in the game and beyond it.
The Grid is intentionally broader than sports performance alone. We believe developing an athlete also means helping prepare that young person for the opportunities, responsibilities, challenges, and decisions they will face throughout life.
A major part of that is identity and purpose during and beyond sports. Athletics can become a significant part of how young people see themselves, so we want to help athletes understand that who they are is bigger than the sport they play. The Grid will include content designed to help athletes develop a healthy sense of identity and purpose while they compete, navigate changes and transitions throughout their athletic journey, and prepare for a meaningful life beyond their competitive careers.
As DOTIQ grows, new Mentors, topics, series, programs, and development resources will continue to be added to the Grid, giving athletes an expanding library of resources throughout their journey.
DOTIQ is focused primarily on developing the athlete rather than teaching the specific mechanics of a sport.
A baseball player may still work with their hitting instructor. A quarterback may work with a quarterback coach. A volleyball player may work with a skills coach.
We believe an athlete's school, club, team coaches, and trusted private instructors are best positioned to provide that sport-specific instruction.
DOTIQ complements those resources by focusing on the areas that can impact athletes across sports and throughout life.
For organizations utilizing the DOTIQ Assessment and Report, we generally recommend beginning at 12U and older.
The Assessment and Report represent the beginning stages of establishing an athlete's DOTIQ profile and tracking development over time. Starting around 12U allows athletes and organizations to begin establishing a baseline across Discipline, Ownership, Toughness, and Sports IQ and then continue measuring growth as the athlete develops.
The DOTIQ Grid is for athletes of any age.
We believe the principles of Discipline, Ownership, Toughness, and Sports IQ are most effective when they are introduced and developed early. Younger athletes are encouraged to learn from the content inside the Grid and begin applying those principles long before they take their first DOTIQ Assessment.
At the same time, these principles aren't limited to young athletes. Anyone can begin developing Discipline, Ownership, Toughness, and Sports IQ at any point in life and apply them in sports, school, work, relationships, and life beyond the game.
Sports IQ, or, as we like to call it, “getting savvy”, is the ability to deeply understand the game you are playing. For an athlete, that means understanding the game beyond physical skill: recognizing situations, anticipating what comes next, making better decisions, and learning how to operate within the environment around you. But the same principle carries far beyond sports. Every career, industry, organization, and season of life has its own “game” to understand. Developing a high IQ, getting savvy, means learning how that game works, understanding the people and situations around you, recognizing opportunities, and knowing how to make smart decisions within it.
That ability is critical in sports, but it can be just as valuable in your career, your relationships, your leadership, and nearly everything you do in life.
When an organization partners with DOTIQ, it purchases access to DOTIQ's data, analytics, organizational tools, and athlete-development environment for its participating athletes.
The athlete also receives additional benefits from DOTIQ based upon where he or she is in the DOTIQ journey.
We call those benefits a Signing Bonus. A DOTIQ Signing Bonus is not a cash payment. It is a package of additional DOTIQ benefits awarded to the athlete when a qualifying organization invests in his or her development.
You can learn more about how Signing Bonuses work in the FAQ below.
The Student-Athlete Development Initiative is DOTIQ's effort to expand access to complete athlete development by connecting schools, sports organizations, community partners, businesses, foundations, and other sponsors around a shared investment in young athletes.
Through the Initiative, organizations can provide participating student-athletes access to the DOTIQ ecosystem, including assessment, development programming, expert content, ongoing resources, and other benefits based on where each athlete is in his or her DOTIQ journey.
The goal is simple: create opportunities for more student-athletes to receive intentional development beyond the physical side of sports.
Rather than placing the entire financial responsibility on individual families, the Student-Athlete Development Initiative creates opportunities for schools, athletic organizations, businesses, foundations, donors, and community partners to invest directly in the development of athletes.
When an athlete is sponsored through the Initiative, the participating organization receives the applicable DOTIQ data, analytics, and development tools needed to better understand and develop its athletes, while the athlete receives the applicable DOTIQ Signing Bonus. A Signing Bonus is not a cash payment, but a package of DOTIQ benefits awarded to the athlete based on where he or she is in the DOTIQ journey. Signing Bonuses are explained in greater detail below.
Ultimately, the Student-Athlete Development Initiative is designed to bring together athletes, organizations, experts, and community partners around one mission:
Build the leaders of tomorrow.
Every qualifying organizational signing creates a Signing Bonus for the athlete.
The first time an athlete is signed through a participating organization, the athlete receives the applicable foundational DOTIQ benefits, including the Complete Athlete System.
Every subsequent qualifying signing provides additional benefits, including another 12 months of DOTIQ Grid membership and an applicable award of Dots.
That's part of how DOTIQ is designed to work.
You maintain one DOTIQ identity.
If your school participates in DOTIQ and your club or travel organization later signs you, you don't start over and you don't receive duplicate foundational programs.
Instead, the new organization receives authorized access to the DOTIQ tools and data it needs to help develop you within its environment, while you receive another Signing Bonus.
Yes.
An athlete could potentially be connected to a school, club, travel organization, or other participating organization at the same time.
You still maintain one DOTIQ identity, while each organization maintains its own authorized relationship with you.
Your Grid membership stacks.
For example, if you have 10 months remaining and another qualifying organization signs you, an additional 12 months would be added.
You would then have approximately 22 months of Grid access remaining.
Your existing membership time isn't replaced or lost.
A qualifying renewal creates another Signing Bonus.
Your organization receives another year of access to the applicable DOTIQ organizational environment, and you receive another, assessment, 12 months of Grid membership, plus an applicable award of Dots.
DOTIQ Dots
Dots are DOTIQ's internal rewards system.
Athletes can earn Dots through their DOTIQ journey and use them to unlock additional opportunities within the ecosystem.
Dots are designed to reward athletes for engaging, developing, completing programs, and continuing to DOT IN.
Athletes may be able to earn Dots through activities such as completing development programs, engaging with DOTIQ content, completing challenges, maintaining streaks, reassessing, receiving Signing Bonuses, and participating in other DOTIQ activities.
The ways athletes can earn Dots will continue evolving as the platform grows.
Dots may be redeemable for things such as:
Some things inside DOTIQ may eventually be available only through Dots, giving athletes additional reasons to earn them.
- Exclusive content
- Discounts on Apparel (when released)
- DOTIQ Exclusive Experiences
- Limited releases
- Discounts
Dots do not have a cash value and cannot be exchanged for money.
DOTIQ uses Dots as an internal redemption and rewards system. Different products, content, experiences, and rewards may require different numbers of Dots.
DOTIQ may adjust redemption levels as the rewards ecosystem develops.
No. Dots are associated with the individual athlete's DOTIQ account and are non-transferable unless DOTIQ introduces an authorized transfer feature in the future.
No.
Dots have no cash value, cannot be redeemed for money, and are not currency.
They exist exclusively as part of the DOTIQ rewards ecosystem.
Assessments & Data
Your DOTIQ identity follows you through the DOTIQ ecosystem.
Organizations purchase authorized access to DOTIQ's organizational data and tools associated with the athletes they sponsor; they do not purchase ownership of the athlete or the athlete's DOTIQ identity.
Authorized coaches and organizational users may have access to applicable athlete information when their organization has an active DOTIQ relationship with the athlete and the appropriate permissions and consents are in place.
The purpose of that access is athlete development.
No.
Being connected to one organization does not automatically give another organization access to your information.
Each organizational relationship is separate and subject to the appropriate authorization and consent requirements.
Yes. Reassessment is an important part of the DOTIQ development process.
The goal isn't simply to determine where an athlete is today. It's to help the athlete develop and then measure how he or she changes over time. We recommend reassessing every six months.
Assess → Understand → Develop → Measure.
Membership & Purchasing
Yes.
Athletes and families will be able to purchase qualifying DOTIQ products and Grid access directly through DOTIQ.
Organizational participation provides a different experience because the organization can utilize DOTIQ's team data, analytics, development tools, and content-distribution capabilities.
The current retail à la carte value of the DOTIQ Grid is $25 per month.
Organizations may provide Grid membership to athletes through their DOTIQ partnership and applicable Signing Bonuses.
No.
Additional qualifying Grid access is added to the athlete's existing membership period.
The time stacks rather than resets.
Your DOTIQ identity does not disappear simply because you leave an organization.
The organization's access to your information may end or become limited according to the applicable partnership and privacy requirements, but your DOTIQ identity, applicable development history, banked Grid membership, earned Dots, and other individual benefits remain associated with you subject to DOTIQ's applicable terms.
Parents & Athlete Safety
Yes. DOTIQ is being built specifically with young athletes and families in mind.
Because many DOTIQ athletes are minors, athlete safety, appropriate content, privacy, parental consent, and responsible use of athlete data are fundamental parts of the platform.
No.
DOTIQ does not intend to have traditional public comment sections on Creator content.
Athletes will instead be able to provide feedback through mechanisms such as 1-to-5-star ratings.
This gives Mentors useful feedback while helping maintain a healthier environment for athletes and Creators.
Some DOTIQ Mentors may independently offer private coaching, consulting, mentoring, or professional services.
Those services occur outside of DOTIQ and are independently operated by the Creator or expert.
The Mentor establishes his or her own pricing, scheduling, payment, communication methods, parental-consent requirements, professional requirements, and service terms.
Where a subject requires professional licensing, credentials, or certifications, DOTIQ expects Mentors providing professional guidance in that area to possess the appropriate qualifications and operate within their professional scope.
Other content may come from accomplished athletes, coaches, leaders, speakers, and individuals sharing their experiences and lessons learned through sports and life.
Organizations
Because the organization isn't simply purchasing the athlete's original CAS.
It is purchasing its own organizational access to DOTIQ's data, analytics, development tools, and team environment for that athlete.
Without that relationship, the organization would not have the complete roster environment necessary to analyze its team, distribute applicable content, group athletes, identify trends, measure development, and utilize DOTIQ as an organizational development system.
The athlete simultaneously benefits by receiving another Signing Bonus.
The organization is primarily purchasing access to DOTIQ's data, analytics, organizational tools, and athlete-development environment for its roster.
The additional benefits provided directly to athletes, including the CAS, Grid access, Dots, content, programs, and Signing Bonuses, are part of the broader value DOTIQ creates around that organizational relationship.
