Student-Athlete Development Initiative

Develop the athlete. Strengthen the program. Impact the community.

Every community has businesses, individuals, families, alumni, organizations and others who want to make a meaningful investment in the next generation. S.A.D.I. gives them a direct way to do it.

It connects community generosity with the development of student-athletes, helping provide young people access to tools, resources and ongoing development designed to strengthen Discipline, Ownership, Toughness and Sports IQ, both in the game and beyond it.

One contribution. Two levels of impact.

$200 sponsors one student-athlete for one year.

How S.A.D.I. works

  1. 1

Organizations partner with DOTIQ through S.A.D.I.

Schools, school districts, athletic programs, clubs, and other organizations partner with DOTIQ through S.A.D.I. to create an athlete-development initiative within their community.

  2. 2

    The community invests

Local businesses, individuals, families, alumni, and other community partners choose how many student-athletes they would like to impact through their charitable contribution to S.A.D.I., an initiative of Boom, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Whether that is one athlete, ten, one hundred, or an entire organization, every contribution helps expand the reach of the initiative.

  3. 3

    Athletes receive DOTIQ

S.A.D.I. helps provide participating student-athletes access to DOTIQ's athlete-development ecosystem, beginning with greater awareness of who they are and continuing through ongoing resources designed to help them grow.

  4. 4

    S.A.D.I. reinvests in the community

For every athlete sponsored, $75 is designated to be reinvested into athletic programs within that athlete’s participating community. Those funds may be directed toward school athletic departments, booster clubs, athletic programs, or other qualifying needs that support student-athletes.

The result is a model designed to develop individual athletes while strengthening the programs and communities surrounding them.

What athletes receive

Development built around the four foundational traits at the centre of DOTIQ.

Discipline

Learning to consistently do what needs to be done, whether someone is watching or not.

Ownership

Taking responsibility for decisions, preparation, attitude, actions and results.

Toughness

Developing the ability to respond to adversity, pressure, failure, discomfort and difficult circumstances.

Sports IQ

Or, as we like to call it, getting savvy. The ability to deeply know whatever game you are playing: to understand situations, recognize what matters, make better decisions, and keep growing in your knowledge.

Through DOTIQ, participating athletes may receive access to the DOTIQ Assessment, personalized development reports, the Grid, programs, resources and development content from experienced Mentors.

Developing the person behind the performance

Physical ability matters. Speed matters. Strength matters. Skill matters. Performance matters. But some of the traits with the greatest impact on who an athlete becomes are much harder to measure.

How do they respond when things get difficult? Do they take ownership? Can they consistently do what is required? How well do they understand the game? How do they handle success, failure, pressure, responsibility, relationships, money, leadership, and eventually life after sports?

S.A.D.I. helps make that development available to more athletes, regardless of their family's ability to purchase it individually. The goal is not simply to create better athletes. It is to develop better-equipped young people.

Local community. Local athletes. Lasting impact.

The heart of S.A.D.I. is local. You do not have to own a business to make an impact.

A local business can invest in the student-athletes growing up in the community it serves. An individual can provide development for a student-athlete simply because they believe in investing in the next generation. A former athlete or alumnus can pour back into the program that helped shape them. A family can come together to impact multiple athletes. A company can impact a handful of athletes or help transform an entire athletic organization.

Everyone can play a part.

For schools & athletic organizations

Bring S.A.D.I. to your community

S.A.D.I. gives schools, districts, clubs and athletic organizations another way to bring intentional athlete development into their programs without relying exclusively on existing athletic budgets.

A community that sponsors 1,000 athletes does not simply provide development to 1,000 young people. It also creates $75,000 designated for reinvestment into local athletic programs.
